This policy explains what personal information Shopl Inc. (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the chowlocal-dev.com website, the Chow Local app, the Chow Local Vendor app and related services (the “Services”), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Services you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, password and profile photo.
- Orders and bookings: what you order, delivery addresses, delivery instructions, table requests and notes you leave for a place.
- Reviews and comments you post, and the reviews you love.
- Location: the addresses you save, and your device’s location if you allow it, to show nearby places and work out delivery.
- Device information: a notification token if you allow notifications, and basic technical data such as browser and device type.
- For businesses: details about your place, your team, and payout and billing information you give us.
You can use much of the Services without an account. Some features need the information above to work.
How we use it
- To create and manage your account.
- To pass your orders and table requests to the place, and keep you updated by email and notification.
- To process payments, refunds and payouts.
- To show you places near you and improve the Services.
- To respond to your questions and provide support.
- To send you news and offers, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To keep the Services safe, prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations.
Payments
Card payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe, which meets the PCI Data Security Standard. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe’s use of your information is covered by its own privacy policy.
Who we share it with
When you place an order or ask for a table, we share the details the place needs with that place, such as your name, phone number, order and delivery address. We also use trusted service providers to run the Services, for hosting, email, image storage, maps, payments and notifications, and they may only use your information to provide those services to us.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business.
Where it is stored
Our main database is in Canada. Some of our service providers may process information in other countries, such as the United States, under safeguards that protect it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is open and as needed to provide the Services, resolve disputes and meet legal requirements, up to a maximum of 60 months. We may keep information that no longer identifies you.
Your choices and rights
- You can see and update your details in your profile at any time.
- You can ask us to delete your account from the Profile screen in the app (Delete My Account), or by emailing info@chowlocal.com. We process deletion requests within a few business days.
- You can turn off notifications and location access in your device settings.
- You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in them. Order and account emails still come.
- Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, move or restrict the use of your information, or to complain to a data protection authority. Email us to use these rights. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Cookies
The website uses cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, though some parts of the site may not work without them.
Children
The Services are not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, but no service on the internet can be guaranteed completely secure. If a breach puts you at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and tell you of any important changes.
